Biography
Her first taste of stardom came with the release of Queen Boxer (which took between 11 - 18 days to shoot). Here, she went by the name Judy Lee - becoming the only female, to capitalize of the death of Bruce Lee - mainly, through the work of the film company. Years later, we would get Moon Lee, who would take over, in the Modern Action genre. In her 2nd film, The Heroine, She won a Best Supporting Actress Award, at the ? Golden Horse Awards, held in Hong Kong ??
Also from Taiwan, she was a classmate of another fierce fighter - Angela Mao, before appearing in nearly (50) films and giving fans, some very dramatic performances in each film she appeared. A professional in every way, her films were interesting and almost always filled with top-notched action. She seemed to have more Fun in the films she made. I think she Smiled more that all the other (Kung Fu/Swordplay) actresses combined. This didn't stop her from dishing out the beatings as they were needed.
Such standouts as - The Crane Fighters, Lady Karate, and Against Drunken Cats Paws - let us see just how talented she really was. The film The Assassin, gave us a look at her as a villain, doing battle with the beautiful Hsu Feng. Throughout her career (whether she was the lead actress or a co-star), she never failed to put in a good performance. Appearing in the film The Lady Constables, should have seemed like a Class Reunion, as a number of her real Peking Opera classmates (also) had starring roles (Angela Mao, Chang Yi, Peter Chen, Robert Tai, and Peng Kong).
She received the Best Actress Award, for her 2nd film role - The Escape, at the "Golden Horse Festival" (their version of the Oscars). Though, not as intense as Angela Mao, she can definitely hold her own, on the silver screen. Not one to sit back and let the men have all the fun, she's known for jumping right in there and mixing it up with the boys. She (too) retired from films and lived in Los Angeles with her husband and son, where she used to run a Travel Agency.
