Biography
According to Jackie Chan, he is one of the best stuntmen in Asia, having worked with him on Snake & Crane Arts of Shaolin, Fearless Hyena, and a few other films. He is also a fine acrobat and fight choreographer, lending his hand to some first-rate classics such Shaolin Vs Lama and Dance Of Death with Angela Mao. Most usually, miss his cameo in Fatal Needles, Fatal Fists, as one one the thieves traveling with the wedding procession.
A natural villainous character actor, he was in top form in The Leg Fighters. You could tell that he would be a major force as a villain on the screen. I think the first time I saw him was in Chi Kuan-Chun's directorial debut, The Big Rascal, where he had a cameo as a villain. With an extensive background in Peking Opera, his skills have been polished for years, just waiting on the opportunity to shine. It's very rare to find him giving a subpar performance.
Yet, when I saw him in Fatal Claws, Deadly Kicks, he seemed to have been given the chance to let go and showcase his operatic skills. This would be thanks to veteran director Lee Tso-Nam, who would later use his talents in a number of his film productions. He also gave a good showing as a ninja in A Life Of Ninja with Chen Kuan-Tai and Yasuaki Kurata. It's a shame that most of his work was in the background and not the focal point of the films, he appeared in.
