Biography
If Bruce Lee was the King Of Kung Fu, then to her fans, she is definitely the Queen. Born in Taiwan, she enrolled at the Fu Hsing Opera School, at the age of (6) (her classmate was Chia Ling among others). She became the school's top female performer and toured the world with the opera troupe at (18). She was discovered, by film veteran Huang Feng in (1970) and went on to star in one of Golden Harvest's first film entitled, The Angry River. With skill and beauty to match, she took America by storm, and with her brief appearance in Enter The Dragon, she became an International superstar.
She handles weapons with the precision of her hands & feet, and is nothing short of amazing. She has better movement than a lot of her screen competition, and even when she's doing nothing, she can steal the scene from most of the actors she's worked with. She is a disciple of Hapkido master Chi Hon-Jae, who stated that he was very impressed with how quickly she picked up his art. He gave her an Honorary 2nd-Degree Blackbelt.
Her last film was Broken Oath; here she would display her dazzling kicks as well as weaponry. I wished Chan Wai-Man was the lead villain, as it would have given her a much more interesting finale. This movie showcased everything from acting talents to weaponry skills. She retired in (1975), because of marriage, only later to return to the screen to make more kung-fu films. But, just as Bruce Lee will forever have a place in the Kung Fu Hall Of Fame, she too, will forever be America's favorite, Queen Of Kung Fu.
