Biography
This man could easily be called the "7th venom" (if you count Wei Pai as a Venom), though he would actually be the next in line as a venom. Since there were about (15) men who usually played in the Venom movies, they were sometimes called the Venom Mob. He was usually, the villain used to help trap others and kill just about anybody worth killing. He worked as a stuntman, before landing a memorable role in Chang Cheh's Shaolin Rescuers. His skill-level helped to elevate him above many of the other stuntmen who had worked with the group in most of their films.
Since that performance, he found a permanent place on the Venom's team, forever adding additional spice (mayhem) to their films. He and fellow villain Lu Feng actually switched places in the hit Shaw Bros' film Daredevils Of Kung Fu (Magnificent Acrobats), which was a role-reversal that gave fans a different perspective of both mens' talents. This gave us a chance to see him as the lead villain and Lu, as a heroic leading man. While the change suited both actors, it showed that Lu Feng was best used, in villainous roles.
Fast, agile, and excellent with weapons, he's had good performances in some of their best films - The Destroyers, House Of Traps, Masked Avengers, and Killer Army (one of his better outings). He acquired a bigger role, as one of the lead villains in the biggest "Venom Mob" movie of all - 10 Tigers Of Kwangtung. Here, it was one of the best combinations, of old Shaw veterans working with the "New-guys-on-the-block".
His performances always warrant notice, as he had the skills to carry a film, which (unfortunately), he never has. Another, in a string of agile performers, he was (also) "Peking Opera-trained" with the likes of such actors as Chung Fa and Meng Hoi. As recently as the mid-90's, he's worked with Kuo Chui, helping him with fight choreography. He has appeared in a number of films, that desperately need a boost and easily received one, from his presence and skill.
