Biography
Usually, cast as the villain in most of the Venoms movies, he is as skillful as they come. He, along with, Kuo Chui and Chiang Sheng were usually the reason the Venoms' films were so successful. A top-notched choreographer and probably the best weapons expert of the group, he won an award for the Shaw classic Magnificent Ruffians for his use of the Kwan-Do. He, actually, came to Hong Kong because of director Chang Cheh, when he spent time in Taiwan shooting films for his Chang's Film company.
It was said that he and Kuo Chui once had an argument over who would receive Choreographer credit on 2 Champions Of Death. When Kuo got mad and didn't appear in the film, director kept him (Lu) out of Ode To Gallantry to ease the tension between the two. They eventually made up and continued to make some Shaw Bros' most sought after films. He would stay (and work) with director Chang the longest of all the Venom members, while he and Chiang Sheng would work together longer than the other members.
His role in the comical farce Fight Among The Supers showed fans he could play other roles, but, they would rather see him as a villain more than anything else, as this film did his talents no justice. He had a cameo role in his friend Robert Tai's movie Iron Bodyguards-2, where they took an old movie and spliced it (and the Storyline) with new footage in order to make it appear that the movie was a new one. His age was showing and he only acted in the movie, no fight scenes. Whether, he chooses to be in front or behind the camera, he always seemed to delivery.
