Biography
From her first Shaw film The Billion Dollar Legacy, she was one of the most sought-after actresses at the studio. She was (easily), one of the most beautiful women at the studio, which only helped, when it came to securing plum roles. She was the woman Ge Hou (Lo Lieh) didn't want to leave, in order to go practice kung-fu at the Ching Wu School (under teacher Shin Chin-Pei (Fang Mien) in the classic Shaw hit - 5 Fingers Of Death.
She mostly just got to cry or smile in the movie, but she was yet to show what she could do. The film Duel For Gold, found her playing with Screen-legend Ivy Ling-Po as sisters out to find gold, but not before some great swordplay against "Double-crossing" bandits. As a martial-arts film star, she wasn't bad, appearing to convey her parts, as best she could (though she was heavily doubled in most fighting scenes).
In the excellent Oath Of Death, she wasn't given much to do, but the action spoke for itself. And many may also remember her as Ti Lung's girlfriend "Butterfly" (he got a Butterfly tattoo put on his chest in the film Duel Of The Iron Fist). While, she was not as an accomplished actress as many of her peers, her beauty more than made up for her shortcomings. How many actresses can say, that they were in the first (3) kung-fu movies ever released in the United States?

In The Chinese Boxer, she helped nurse a bruised and beaten Jimmy Wang-Yu back to health. Like Wang Yu, she was taken to court by the studio, when she decided to sever her contract and make films in Taiwan (once she was in high demand). She could be seen in the lackluster Wild Tiger, one of the first films she appeared in after leaving Shaw Brothers. She would later return to the studio and do some very good work. She won the Golden Horse award for her role as the wicked wife of Ku Feng, in the film, Tiger Killer.
