Biography

Now, this guy has to be one of my all-time favorite villains, in the Kung Fu genre. He is thrilling to watch and from his early start at Shaw Brothers, he's been a villain to watch for years. He and Tien Feng (no relation) are some of the most menacing villains you may ever want to meet. Well versed with weapons or empty-hands, his acting usually leaves others he shares scenes with, in the dust. Often paired with close friend Ti Lung, he was at one time, the most famous villain at the Shaw studios. ​

I've never seen him in a Kung Fu film that I didn't like and I even enjoyed him when he starred in the Wong Fei-Hung epic Master Of Kung Fu, where he got to play the Hero for the first time. Most remember him as the leader Yu Sze-Hung in Avenging Eagles fighting against Fu Sheng. He has played in a number of classics with just about anybody you can name.

He has done extremely good work with Bruce Liang from Incredible Master Beggars, The Fists, The Kicks, & The Evils, to the classic Bruce & Iron Finger. He also in later years began appearing in Comedies to good reviews. Films like Crack Shadow Boxers and Ruthless Revenge (with his silly friend Hon Kwok-Choi), were some of his best comedic performances.

Well into age now, he still finds the time to appear in modern action films such as The Jail Of No Return (after seeing this movie, I doubt he'd ever want to eat chicken again). He won a Golden Horse award for his portrayal in Tiger Killer and should have won something for Killer Clans, Emperor & His Brother, and his teary-eyed performance in Secret Service Of The Imperial Court. When it comes to great dramatic actors, he's in a league of his own.
