Biography
Most remember him as the teacher of in 5 Fingers Of Death; the first kung-fu movie to find it's way to America starring Lo Lieh. He, also, appeared as the teacher in what was said to be, the first kung-fu film maded - The Chinese Boxer, starring Jimmy Wang-Yu. Yet, long before that, he was playing heroes and villains in a number of Shaw Bros' swordplay films (and to good effect). It wasn't rare to see him robbing, scheming, and doing his share of killing. While, not in the same league as Wang Jang-Li or even the Chang Yi when it comes to villains, he did portray his characters, with a more sinister-type of mood, where you weren’t quite sure you could trust him.
In 12 Deadly Coins, his coins never missed their mark, and from the first (3) minutes of the film, you knew, that this man would be trouble. Because of his age, stunt-doubles were. often, used for the more strenuous stuff, though, he never really did a lot of difficult maneuvers in the films he's played. His acting was on another level, as was his friend and comrade Tien Feng, who was no slouch in villainous roles, himself. What they didn't have in the way of great kung-fu skills, they more than made up for it, with intensity and fine acting.
