Biography
This actress starred in Shaw Bros' first $1,000,000 movie - The One-Armed Swordsman (with Jimmy Wang-Yu), as well as countless other movies for the studio. She was even given the starring role in the excellent Swordplay film The Black Butterfly and did a pretty good job (for someone with no martial-arts training). Mostly known for her mainstream acting, she was one of the leading faces to watch for, back in the late 60's. The film Heads For Sale, also tested her acting/fighter skills, during a time when the studio was pushing females into more fighting roles.
She was also married to famed villainous actor Huang Chung-Hsin, having worked with him on numerous films. When he was injured in a car wreck back in 1968, she was right by his side, helping him to recover. She has not received the fanfare of say, Hsu Feng, she reminds me of Nora Miao, in that even though she was given something to do, she seemed forever in the background. She also worked as a Dubber, adding Mandarin voices for certain characters in a number of Shaw films and as a Foley Artist (the ones who make Sound Effects used in films).
In the movie Dragon Blows, she did a good job, but her kung-fu just wasn't believable. Throughout her career as an actress, she has given many excellent performances, but finding those performances are few and far in between. In the mid 70's, she (like most actresses), settled into movies that were being shot in Modern times and found more refreshing roles, that suited her character as an actress and actually challenged, her acting ability.
