Biography
Though she was mostly known for her connection with Bruce Lee, she had been in films where she was the main star. They were all "Swordplay" epics, films like The Hurricane, The Comet Strikes, and my personal favorite, The Blade Spares None. she was said to have been the first actress that signed with Golden Harvest studios, there, they tried to cash-in on Shaw Bros' formula for female Swordswomen. In later years, she let her looks do the talking for her, as she took roles where she could just act, as opposed to fighting. Remember, in Swordplay films you don't really need to know how to fight, but it helps.
She wasn't adept at fighting, so she was never in the race for the "Queen Of Kung Fu" title. Eventually, she was just another pretty-face, who had a contract at Golden Harvest, and no more than that. Ironically, she was the one of the most famous actress in Japan, during her heyday. The main thing she did, that other actresses envied, was that she is the only woman to share an Onscreen-kiss with Bruce Lee. She was (also) rumored to have been Lee's mistress at one time, since she is the only female to have roles in (3) of his films.
At one time, she had decided to quit the movie business to play in an All-girls band (like the Go-Go's), and she was to be the lead singer. She, also, had her share of troubles in the 70's. One incident, in particular, where she began dating (married) film star Ko Chun-Hsiung, with whom she worked with on the film The Devil's Treasure. Though he loved his wife, he couldn't seem to shake Nora's charm and their affair made for interesting gossip. Now living in Canada, she hosts a radio show.
