Biography
Ever since he starred as the evil eunuch in King Hu's masterpiece Dragon Gate Inn, he's been every director's dream (villain) and every hero's nightmare. His career has spanned over (30) years and he's traded kicks and punches with some of the best. I first noticed him in Superman-Chu, where he was using coins as weapons -- throwing them into eyes and various body parts. Then, in the film The Chinese Mack, he kept Chan Wei-Man on his toes (literally), in one of the film's highly charged, fight scenes.
Interestingly, his work as a eunuch has led to a string of films, where he was typecast as a one. Films like The Eunuch, 24 Shaolin Moves, and the 3-D film Dynasty (with Tan Tao-Liang), has brought him legions of fans the world over, for his heartless portrayals. After the success of The Eunuch, he was virtually, stereo-typed, as he was constantly being offered roles, as an evil Eunuch. He's a good character actor, who can display a thirst for bloodshed or he can play a most intriguing hero, as in Deadly Confrontation and The Fate Of Lee Khan.

While working for director Chang Cheh in Taiwan, he appeared in 7 Man Army and the film, The Condemened. Here, he gave a ruthless portrayal of a villain, that showed no mercy, as people were being killed all around him. He (almost) went undetected in Billy Chong's A Fist Full Of Talons, as the mysterious stranger, who turns out to be a Patriot, running from a gang of Manchu's. He [eventually] tells Chong about his past and instructs him in his battle, against super-villain Whang In-Sik. He has kept up the pace, making films well thru the 90's, adding his villainous ways in films like Royal Warriors with Michelle Yeoh and Henry Sanada and Dragon From Russia (with Sam Hui). Regardless, what he played, as long as it was Evil, you could almost guarantee, that the outcome was going to be - Bloody.
