Biography
Another fine actor to emerge from the ranks at Shaw Brothers, he always gave quality performances and could turn a cameo role into a memorable one. He was one of the major stars at the studio in the 60's, and for one who was more of an actor than a fighter, he still fared well appearing in almost all of their major kung-fu productions. He is without a doubt one of the most recognizable faces in the kung-fu genre.
Acting turned out to be a family affair, when his daughter (the sexy, multi-talented Ching Li), also, became a leading actress at the studio, as well. He has played in numerous films with countless talents, you name them, and he's probably played along side some of them. He's held his own and all the while, he's made some of the best look better, just by being in the movie with them and sharing his acting knowledge. Whether he plays a friend or foe, he has always turned in the type of performances that helped to turn a movie around sometimes.
In 3 Evil Masters - he played a lowly servant at an Inn, only to surprise Chen Kuan-Tai with a knife in his side. This changed the whole scope of the film. From a supreme fighter who was in control, to one who must now hide from men, he normally could handle, as they now search for him. And in 12 Gold Medallions, he and Shaw acting coach Ku Chung-Wen fought before he would battle his own daughter (played by Chin Ping).

In Shaolin Mantis, he played David Chiang's father who had him work for an Emperor, gather information on a family of suspected spies, and do whatever it took to return and report what he found out. Then, he turns around and scolds his son telling him that all that he's done was a great injustice and that he should be ashamed (only after secretly poisoning himself and his son). Turns out, he was willing to sacrifice his himself and his family for his country.
