Biography
Like many, he can be seen as an extra in Bruce Lee's immortal classic Enter The Dragon. Regarded as one of the flashiest performers to appear on the kung-fu scene, he was well known in the Hong Kong movie industry for his choreography skills. It is said that he work on the choreography of every film, that he has appeared in as well as other standouts like The Bloody Tattoo, 2 Fists Against The Law, and the cult-classic - Shaolin Vs Lama.
At times, he's made the best look even better. Whether it was Billy Chong, in Kung Fu From Beyond The Grave, Jimmy Lee in the excellent Rebellious Reign, or John Liu, in Kung Fu Commandos (where he really sold those kicks to the face, in the final fight scene). He came into his own in films like Renegade Monk and Daggers 8 after years as toiling in films as a background player, himself.
He is another in a long line of actors who went to Peking Opera school and later applied what he'd learned in the movie industry. Classmates who would also go on to leave their mark of the kung-fu genre such as Meng Hoi, Tung Wei, and Lam Ching-Ying. Yet, it would be with his close friend Chien Yueh-Sheng, with whom he'd share one of the most bizarre (and inventive) scenes in kung-fu history.
In the film Kung Fu Vs Yoga, they battled a Hindu yoga expert, in what turned out to be more of a chance to see some mind-blowing skill in flexibility from the contortionist (who clearly stole the show). This also was the film where he got to display his whole arsenal, including weaponry, acrobatics, and acting skills. The film War Of The Shaolin Temple, also, give him a chance to put his choreography skills to good use, as the film has some nice fights scenes.
