Biography
Was known as the Alfred Hitchcock of Hong Kong, because like Hitchcock, he liked to appear in a lot of the films he shot. He's played villainous bosses in countless Kung Fu films, and yet his eye for detail has aided him tremendously as a director in his own right. He gave Robert Lee (Bruce Lee's brother), his first acting role and he's helped a number of actors and actresses in their quest to become better at their craft.
His Kung Fu wasn't up to par with most of his Co-stars - Fu Sheng (Heroes 2), Chen Kuan Tai (Warrior Of Steel), or Ti Lung (Delightful Forest), but he could still make himself stand out as a villain with portrayals that seem to come out of 1940's gangster films. With that face and the fact that he hid behind his gang most of the time, he fell in the category of villains like Chiang Nan, Tien Feng, and Li Yun-Chung. Only when you're beat up and damn near dead, will he step in to finish you off so he can claim all the glory.

He has worked for each of the top (3) Film companies at one time or another - Cathay Films, Shaw Brothers, and Golden Harvest (where he directed most of his films). It can be said that he made his mark behind the camera, as well as in front of it, and was well respect filmmaker in his own right.
