Biography
Another versatile Shaw Brothers actor, who has had the talent to bring depth to (basically) any role he's played. More of an actor than a martial artist, he has appeared in roles, where you'd never know that he wasn't trained, in some form of martial-art. He has been in films for a long time and in some major productions, where he always seems to pull off interesting and intriguing performances.
His stint at Shaw studios, allowed him to practice his villainous ways often. Films like Lady With A Sword with Lily Ho and Secret Of The Dirk starring a youthful Chang Yi (no slouch as a villain, himself) helped to broaden his range and added more gratifying roles to his resume. His work as a villain would continue, long after he left Shaw Brothers for Golden Harvest and (eventually) other Independent film companies.
He's much more adapt at being a sinister character, which his looks help to convey even more. He will usually catch you with your guard down, through some form of trickery, before moving in for the kill. He's played along side some of kung-fu's top performers - Wang Tao (Bandits, Prostitutes, & Silver), Samo Hung (Iron-Fisted Monk), and John Liang (Cantonen Iron Kung Fu), just to name few. He's another actor, who thrives on intensity when he acts (or fights), which, only seemed to heighten his performances.
