Biography
She actually played in Chang's Chinatown Kid, Unbeatable Dragon, and The Brave Archer, but was given little to do. In the late 70's, film extraordinaire Liu Chia Liang, obviously saw potential in her and took her under his wing. Seen as a Brothel maiden in the film Dirty Ho, she was used by Gordon Liu as his so-called protector against would-be thief Wong Yu. Casting her as his sister in the film Mad Monkey Kung Fu, Liu helped us see her potential as she had a short (but intense) fight-scene with Shaw veteran Lo Lieh.
She would later star in a number of successful films under his Liu's watchful eye - Fists Of The White Lotus, Instructors Of Death, and Legendary Weapons Of China helped to establish her as the studio's "Top Female Star" during this time. His film My Young Auntie was centered on her and showcased her talents beautifully and her star-status was secured. She took it a step further with Lady Is The Boss and won the "Best Actress Award" at the Asian Pacific Film Festival and was even featured on the American journalist show, PM Magazine back in the early 80's.
Under Liu's guidance, she achieved stardom and a following that is still alive today. In her lean years after Shaw studios were winding down, she even posed in a Nude layout, like in Playboy Magazine. She is still making films and delighting audiences until this day. Modern films like Widow Warriors and the excellent Burning Ambition (by Frankie Chan), where she doesn't miss a step. Throughout her career, she has done quality work and was an exceptional talent. When it comes to kung-fu's best females, she'd easily make anyone's Top 10 list.
