Biography
A good friend of Jackie Chan and Samo Hung, he has racked up an impressive string of modern day hits. This fast-kicking terror, is a Tae Kwon Do expert, and if you are one of the unfortunate ones who have never seen one of his movies, (in my best waiter's voice) "May I suggest, The Prodigal Son, Sir? Guaranteed to suit the taste-buds of even the pickiest Kung-fu Connesseurs. In this film, he played a part, similar to Wang Lung-Wei's in Instructors Of Death. Though, he wasn't what, most would call a villain in the film, he was the main antagonist (aka Anti-Villain). His kicking techniques were excellent and this set in motion a big career change for him.
An accomplished Musician, he's done the musical scores, for a lot of kung-fu films during the 70's. He, later, moved on to Choreography and then Directing. He co-directed Operation Condor with Jackie and then directed my personal favorite, Burning Ambition. In Carry On Pickpocket, he worked with Samo, showing off his knack for Comedy, as well as action. Then, in Outlaw Brothers, he directed Yukari Oshima, in one of her better films. Though, to most kung-fu fans, he will always be remembered for his fight against Yuen Biao in The Prodigal Son, it's a film most would love to have on their resume, as their last fight scene was well worth the price of admission.
