Biography
He is another actor who had a short kung-fu career, because he was not up to par in the skills department. A better actor than a martial-artist, he toiled in almost obscurity (in kung-fu films) in the early 70's. But, long before his trek into kung-fu films, he was a major star in a class of his own. Adored by millions in Asia, he had film career that would only be eclipsed by another "up-and-coming" actor - Bruce Lee.
Lee's signing with Golden Harvest destroyed the hopes of many would-be actors waiting to cash in on the kung-fu trend. In The Hurricane, he displayed decent skills with a Sword, but beyond the "Swingy-arm" fighting. He could only hope to get work along side the many extras who applied for the same movie. He was a big Matinee idol, long before Golden Harvest ever shot their first film. Most of his films for Golden Harvest were "Swordplay" films, that co-starred Nora Miao. He stayed in the news during the 70's, because of his love life with famed starlet, Chen Ping. He son Nicholas Tse, is one of Asia's leading stars in films today.
