Biography
Before he started to settle down in acting roles, he used to be a director for Cathay Films. This veteran actor can usually been seen playing everything from a Police commissioner or Scholar, but I mostly remember him from his role as Pai Lai-Li, opposite Chia Ling in the "Hatchet-swinging" cult-classic - Queen Boxer. He can best be remembered sticking (2) cigars into the eyes of her brother (Ma Yung-Chan) and she returned the favor by snatching his eyes out, at the end of the movie. He was fun to watch in the Shaw classic, Marco Polo - where he seemed to spit, more than he gave instructions to the “hard-headed" Fu Sheng.
Basically, a dramatic actor, he seemed out of place in kung-fu films, except for when the part calls for sitting down, giving orders, and walking backwards - trying to get away (when someone was about to kill him). With such an eerie presence, when you see him on the screen, you almost (always) know that he's up to no good and something sinister is about to happen. I think the film The Escape, must have been made right behind the Queen Boxer (which took 18-days to film), because both movies had just about the same cast members.
