Biography
He was another hidden talent at Shaw Bros', where he toiled in background roles (for years), before getting the chance to display some real skills. He can almost, always be found, playing in a Liu Chia-Liang film, or helping good friend Wilson Tong choreograph another masterpiece. Short in size, huge on talent, he has turned in some fine performances, and seems at home with comedic or fighting roles. In the 80's classic Writing Kung Fu, he was exceptional, using his "Butterfly Style" - to battle the villainous Yang Sze . In Mad Monkey Kung Fu, he was hilarious, as a petty thug, putting the squeeze on the locals.
While, in 2 Wondrous Tigers, he was a Monk, trying to win Yang Pan-Pan for his wife. In one of his funniest roles, he had me cracking up, playing the monk that Gordon Liu gave the herbal laxative to. Grabbing his butt and farting uncontrollably, he runs off into the nearest bushes to relieve himself. Though, he's never played the main star in any of the films he's appeared in, he's still a gifted performer and an excellent technician. His performance as the Monk in Real Kung Fu, pt.1, was on of his better showing. He's always done quality work and everything that I've seen him in was well worth the price of admission.
