Biography
As an actor, he wasn't bad, but as a fighter, well, he fell into the H.P.B. (Human Punching Bag) catagory. He's appeared in some very credible productions (and stood out) as a good character actor, but it's the Fighting, that most, usually, watch these films for. In Fatal Needles, Fatal Fists, he had more "Bark-than-bite" - trying to protect Wang Tao against villains, giving him a hard time. His acting was up to par, so he fared well in this film. Like so many of his era, he wasn't taken seriously, as an actor.
He's come through the ranks as a very complete actor, with great timing. It was because he wasn't a "Kung-fu" fighter, that most didn't seem to recognize his potential as a very good actor. Most only saw the Fat guy who got beat up alot or the Fat guy, who was used mainly for Comic Relief. Like actor Li Kun, most only saw the "Idiotic" characters that he played, only to overlook his many contributions to his chosen profession. His resume covered almost every genre that you could think of from Swordplay, Kung-fu, to Drama.

Yet, most of the time, he was cast as a kind-hearted character (normally, eating something), who was just waiting to get beat up or killed. The son of famous comedian Ko Shiang-Ting, comedy has been his mainstay, in most of the films he's done. Though, not quite the scene-stealer, he has churned out some pretty good performances, as a Character actor. Reminds me of an Oriental version of the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Despite the many roles he's played, he was always very entertaining. He died in (2000).
