Biography
Another HPB (Human Punching Bag), whose been in a number of films (in various genres), most notably Bruce Lee's Fists Of Fury and The Chinese Connection. Most will remember him as the cousin, who thought Bruce sold them out for a lousy dinner. Fighting was not his forte, as all of his films will confess. His thing was Comedy and his silly brand of humor (which borders on the ridiculous), was normally displayed, every time he appeared onscreen. A good example of this would be Fearless Young Boxer, where he danced around to Disco music, trying to woo a female.
He played Donnie Yen's father in Drunken Tai-Chi, a man so tight with a penny, that he slept with his money chained to him in bed. In The Tattooed Dragon, he gambled away all the money his family had, causing his wife to take extreme measures. He's a former Shaw Bros' veteran, who had a long run, appearing in countless films for the studio, as he was one of their top comedic actors. He, like many, jumped ship and began making films for Golden Harvest and (eventually) numerous Independent film companies. In his day, he was widely respected and well-known in film circles, for his work as an actor. |
