Biography
He can be quite entertaining, even though he doesn't possess that quality, that makes men cringe with fear, when he's playing a villain. Another friend of Jimmy Wang-Yu, he has played in a lot of films with his more famous friend, giving good portrayals of a villain, while not actually having to do any serious damage to people in the process. Given the fact that most villains have that underlying "scum of the earth" quality, he fits right in with most of them, but when it comes to Villainous skills, he can definitely use a crash course on the finer points of Murder & Mayhem.
He always seems to get beat up first, then he'll have to find other (meaner) villains who are more capable of doing a better job, than himself. In One-Armed Boxer, after he got beaten, he got about (12) villains to handle (1) school. In Furious Slaughter, he was going to kill himself (because he lost a fight), but, was saved the humiliation, only to be killed, later. I liked his work in Invincible Sword and Rage Of The Master, even though his roles were doomed from the start, he does give us a chance to see the hero, do a couple of extra moves on another person.
He was a "Good guy", in the film Win Them All, starring Huang Yuan-Sheng, until Yasuaki Kurata showed him, what a "Tiger's Claw" looked like. He seemed to be a much better actor, than a murderous villain and he's actually used those acting skills in more modern-setting films, like 800 Heroes which was an Army film with a star-studded cast. I always laugh, whenever I hear a villain say "I'd like to introduce you to a few friends of mine", as it always reminds me of him. Right before the fighting starts, and he slithers into the background.
