Biography
Korean martial-artists were the "Top-of-the-line" (when it came to Kickers), yet, most were overshadowed by their Chinese counterparts, as the majority of these films were made by them. As I've always said (and it's a proven fact), in order to have a great Hero, you have to an equally talented Villain. Even leg-fighter John Liu seemed outclassed by those legs. And for a villain that wasn't quite as well known as people like - Kao Fei, Whang In-Sik, or even Yi Yuan, given his talents, he should have been a household name. He made numerous films in his native Korea, yet, most of them weren't up to the production values of the Hong Kong counterparts.
And though, it could have been the language barrier, there were a lot of Koreans around so it makes it hard when you try and figure out why he wasn't as popular as some of his (less talented) Co-stars. He gave Musculeman Alexander Lo nothing but grief in Ninja Vs Shaolin Guards. And having appeared along sides Gordon Liu (Shaolin Drunken Monk) and Jackie Chan (Dragon Fist), it's obvious that others didn't want to get outclassed as well. When you see him in the movies that he that he made, you see a man who has spent years honing the skills that would put him in a top-notch class of villains.
