Biography
Here's a guy who would much rather watch you take your lumps and reap the benefits of knowing, that he set you up (can you say Chu Mu ?). He really showed promise in the movie Thunderbolt Fist, where he and Nan Kung-Hsun literally beat each other to a pulp. Later in his films, he didn't fight that much, choosing to observe beatings taking place and not getting his hands bloody. In films where he did fight, he was usually killed by more experienced fighters. When he began playing Villains, his performances (for the most part) got extremely Lazy - Vengeance and Duel Of The Iron Fists, quickly come to mind.
He started to remind me of Chan Shen, except for the fact that Chan would fight in the majority of his films. He, actually, starred in some very good films for Shaw Brothers like the obscure Imperial Swordsman (another starring role). Yet, during the early 70's after Bruce Lee came out, they started looking for more accomplished fighters and it was back to Dramatic acting for him. He could have had a career similar to that of Ling Yun, but he chose roles that did nothing to boost his career in kung-fu films. He started out under the name “Kang Chia”, but it was later changed for some reason. He is the brother of “Kang Hua” aka (Alex) Tung Li.
