Wei Hung

Biography
Not one of your Heavy-hitters (when it comes to kung-fu), but he can be entertaining just the same. He's usually not given the type of roles that make you cling to the edge of your seat, but when he's in a very good movie, he seems to blend in well with the action. In The Shaolin Temple (Death Chamber), there was talent all around him and you hardly noticed him because all the "superstars" of the kung-fu genre had all the best lines (and moves).
He mainly stood out in The Savage 5, because he was the one the other villains were expecting and because he used a gun and everyone is always curious how the hero will defeat the gun-toting villain. He is one of those stars who is almost always out-classed by his co-stars in the films he's in. Chen Kuan-Tai out-classed him in the intriguing The Flying Guillotines, Tien Feng (out-classed everyone) did so in Oath Of Death, and Wei Pai made him look silly in The Cheeky Chap.
Though he's had his share of interesting roles - The Shadow Boxer, Kung Fu Hellcats, and Heroes Of The Underground rank up there with some of his better film roles. Then, there the obscure The Dark Alley, a modern film that only did him justice, because he had the starring role. By kung-fu standards, it wouldn't register as a good movie. Yet, as with any film star during the 70's, he still managed to remain in the limelight and star in a number of films (for different film companies), so he must was doing something right.
