Biography
A student of Hung Fist master Chao Wei; he signed up for classes held at Shaw studios, in the early 70's. He was one of the (80) people that was chosen from (2,000) participants and after some tests, he was one of the (10) chosen, to be actors. He appeared in a number of Shaw films (as an extra), some include - 5 Tough Guys, The Flying Guillotine, and Heroes Of The Underground. His appearances in The Condemned, Naval Commandos, The Shaolin Temple (along with many Taiwanese extra), helped him secure a job with Chang Cheh -- after many went back to Taiwan. He was chosen with (5) more "up & coming" actors, to appear in series of films, the director plan to shoot. Due to his martial-art skills, he was given the chance to appear in (4) films - The 5 Venoms, Invincible Shaolin, Kid With The Golden Arm, and 10 Tigers From Kwangtung.
Some have called him, the "6th Venom" -- because he played the "Snake" in the film The 5 Venoms, but that's where the similarities ended. He wasn't as versatile, as the other Venom actors (in skill or agility). Though, he got cast with the rest, he wasn't really a key player. His part of the Snake was [actually] written for a woman But, he had moved into a different phase of filming and had no females who could play the part (anyway). He was one of the few actors (during Chang's Venom-stage), that could carry a film on his own. The fact that he [mostly] played secondary roles, may have been another reason he left the studio.

Later, as a contract player for Golden Harvest, he appeared in good films - The Phantom Killer and my favorite, The Cheeky Chap. This film gave him a chance to show his [true] skills and though, it did not raise him to Superstar status, he was still a very good (but under-rated), actor/fighter. Check him out in such films as Last Hurrah For Chivalry, Magnificent Butcher, and The Young Master -- because he was wasted in The Prodigal Son. His was a talent, that should have been nurtured by the film studio, as he displayed just as much talent as people like Wen Chiang-Long or Erh Tung-Sheng. His talents went [virtually] un-noticed, as he doubled for actor Charles Heung, in one of his best films to date - The Goose Boxer.
