Biography
This silly man doesn't have enough kung-fu skills to fight his way out of a wet paper bag, with a hole in it. But, that's all right with me, especially after his performance in Kung Fu Genius (when he went Cuckoo). When Hsiao Ho had him on that rope (reminding us of his role in Mad Monkey Kung Fu), he should have won an Oscar, for silliness. He is a graduate from Shaw Bros' acting class and has starred in numerous films for them before appearing in such independent classics such as, Snake In The Monkey's Shadow.
He and Chen Kuan-Tai are such good friends and they've appeared in so many movies together, you'd think they were Fang Yeh and San Kuai. He's a very good actor, but when it comes down to the fighting, there are some things, that you just can't act your way out of. In The Eagle's Killer, he tried to get Musclemen to screw a helplessly tied up, John Chang. The results were more than hysterical. He's taken more beatings than I could count and yet, he still finds ways to amuse me.

As one of Shaw Brothers basic actors, he was seen in a number of their films productions. Once he became an actor with Chang Cheh, he seemed to work constantly. Yet, Chang wasn't the only director that he would work with, which only helped him avoid being stero-typed (as many of Chang's actors [often] found themselves). He could be found working with just about any of the studio's major directors, on a number of films ranging from Martial Arts to Dramas. Once he found his niche (Comedy) it was an area, where he'd excel with ease. He stayed loyal to the studio, until the late 70's, when everyone wanted to go where the money was (Golden Harvest) or work independently.
