Biography
According to Yuen Kwei and Samo Hung, he is one of the best acrobatic stuntmen in the world. Coming from a long line of Peking Opera performers, he (like most acrobats/stuntmen) found his niche in kung-fu films. His Tumbling skills, led to a number of parts as an Extra, the most prominent job at the time (in Hong Kong and Taiwan), for "Up-and-coming" actors. Most of his films, have been associated with fellow classmate Robert Tai in some form or another. In the film The Ninja Kids, he wore an awful wig, similiar to the one Yang Sze wore in The 36 Deadly Styles.
He claimed that, "Performing somersaults, were as easy as eating" and looking at him in action, he may have been right. In the movie Iron Swallow (with Chia Ling and Wang Tao), he was flipping all over the place and showed us, that he had some true skills. I thought, he was very impressive in the independently made 18 Weapons Of Kung Fu. It seemed that alot of their classmates, were getting starring roles, on the strength of their Acrobatic abilities, alone. Though his acting could use some work, his movement and fighting skill spoke for themselves. Had directors used him more often, he could have been another household name. |
