Biography
This fine actor is a real talent, conveying his craft (immensely) through his face, fists, or feet. One of the most gifted actors to come out of Taiwan's Opera school, he has appeared in a number of films, where he got to show his talent. Most memorable in the 70's classic - The 7 Grandmasters and The Mystery Of Chess-Boxing. You could, usually, find him playing the Teacher or some renegade fighter. They use to cast him as a Japanese in some of his earlier, more obscure roles.
Though, he took a smaller role in the classic Born Invincible, he easily stole-the-show, from his co-stars. An excellent acrobat, it's wasn't unusual, to see him flipping across the screen, before breaking down into some "eye-catching" kung-fu form. You couldn't find a better example of this, than in the film, World Of The Drunken Master. He was, often seen, appearing as old men, with Silver hair, in a number of his films. He starred as “Abbot White” - the infamous villain, in the ever popular Independent hit, Ninja Hunter.
He was (definitely) a well-trained actor, whose kicks and punches, only added to his keen acting skills. Co-starring in a handful of films with his childhood friend (another Peking Opera trained star) Li I-Min. Though, they both share similar skills, when it comes to true acting skills, he left a lot of his friends in the dust. He added flair, to just about every film he appeared in and was rarely, wasted in the roles he took. In the obscure film Red Phoenix, he got (yet) another chance to flex his acting muscles, playing the lead villain (for the first time), who terrorized a whole town.
