Biography
He could be called the Supreme Swordsman, because he could handle a sword like nobody's business. He found success at Shaw Bros' like many - as an extra, before moving up the ladder to more successful roles. He's worked with "Liu Brothers" (Liu Chia-Liang and Liu Chia-Yung) on various projects, which only seemed to heighten his career and made his star shine even brighter.
He soared (literally) to new heights in the Bastard Swordsman, there was just too much Wire-work to me. Though, an excellent film, I just can't handle big chunks of flying within a film, as I'm not a fan of wires. Yet, earlier films such as The Deadly Challenger and The Bloody Tattoo (complete with stylized haircut), he was at his best. He was (also) in top form in one of my favorites, the excellent (and often overlooked) Rebellious Reign - yet, another retelling of the “4th Prince's" throne scandal (Dirty Ho, being another).
He was one of the most under-rated kung-fu actors that I know of (yet) that never slowed the quality of his performances in front of the camera. While, he started out playing villainous roles, when you've been around as long as he has (and doing quality work), someone has to notice sooner or later. Films like Dirty Kung Fu, battling Wilson Tong or Shaolin Mantis (as one of Huang Hsing-Hsiu's hot-tempered uncles (this time using (2) swords), only seemed to enhance his resume.
