Biography
Where Chang Cheh's film's often deal with Brotherhood, his film's seem to concentrate on the theme of Betrayal, within the Martial World. Along with Li Han-Hsiang and Chang Cheh, he was one of the most prolific directors to work at the studio. He (single-handedly) helped to revive the Swordplay Genre, by using the novels of Ku Lung. His work with Ti Lung easily supassed that of director Chang Cheh, almost giving the actor Iconic stature for his film roles. Chu's work in the Swordplay genre equals Chang's work within the Kung Fu genre. When you think of Swordplay films, it's hard not to associated them with this director.
Return Of The Sentimental Swordsman was his (100th) film, it starred Fu Sheng, who had worked with both directors. Though, he became a star under, Chang, he saw his biggest box-office (in a leading role) with Chu.
