Biography
He usually plays a stately man in almost all of the movies that he's played in. He is another of Shaw Bros' actors who seemed to be stuck in kung-fu films because the real acting roles were more about "Punching and Kicking" (and taken by younger actors). He had a pivitol role in the (obscure) Shaw film - The Deadly Knives, as a land owner, being forced out, by the Japanese and some of his own people. He was a staple in numerous Shaw Brothers films and like most veterans of the studio, he worke steadily. He always seemed to play a "Patriot" in a number of films - Bruce Lee, The Invincible quickly comes to mind.
He had the pleasure of having his head cut off by a guillotine in the hit, The Flying Guillotine. But, normally, he's waiting to impart his knowledge or get killed by villains, who usually have to kill someone to make their point. In older Dramas, he could be found playing Detectives and such, because of his looks and demeanor. In Super Power, his daughter Lu An-Li was supposed to marry Billy Chong. This role only called for him to sit down and recite a handful of lines, nothing more.
