Biography
Seen in a number pictures, he always seems to play a Beggar/Teacher with considerable kung-fu skills (didn't they all?). Given his roles, he seems to like playing the teacher, who dishes out the beatings as well the knowledge. In Fearless Duo, he had Jimmy Liu (whom he has appeared in all of the movies I've seen him in), going through Torture-training in order to learn kung-fu from him. (When you're set to do battle with Wang Jang-Li, you're going to catch hell one way or another).
In Dragon's Claws, he just gave us another fine example of why we love to watch kung-fu movies - for the training sequences. He, like so many others, while playing background characters, eventually evolved into characters that they would mostly be associated with. As with some of the better character actors, you couldn't really tell where his skill-level ends or his acting begins. One thing is for sure, he was another actor who gave their performances, based on the scripts that they received and not the talent that they possessed.
