Biography
Born in 1922, this fine actress has starred countless films for Shaw Brothers, helping to pave the way for other actresses who would come after her. She was said to have acted rings around, the so-called "starlets" of her era. She's played everything from a dying wife to a blind woman, yet even in these parts, you can tell that, she was a class act (and a hard one to follow). She held the destinction, of beng one of the top actresses at (3) major film companies - Cathay Films, Golden Harvest, and Shaw Brothers. This was no small feat. She would also grace many Independent production, during Kung Fu's heyday.
I (first) remember seeing her, as the suffering mother of Henry Yu-Yung, in Fist Of The Double K. It's not uncommon to see her playing a Madame of a Brothel or some type of scheming woman, who ultimately gets what she deserves. In the Ti Lung classic Tiger Killer, she played an evil woman who helped to poison a man, so that someone else could have his wife. She came out of semi-retirement to star in the (1992) movie Pushing Hands. She has had the type of film career, most up and coming actresses can only dream about and others, can only hope for.
