Biography
Another face from Shaw Bros' array of movie actors, he can almost always be caught playing the fool or something close to it. In New Shaolin Boxers, he tried his hand at being a rapist (along with a few of the soon-to-be Venoms). Given his silly expressions, he can (and will) keep you in stitches (laughing), even when you're trying your best to fight it. As the kind-hearted "Fuzzy Chang" (check out the haircut), in Fists Of The White Lotus, he had me cracking up as Gordon Liu used him as target practice, while training to do battle with White Lotus Chief. In Mad Monkey Kung Fu, as Lo Lieh’s valet, he kept trying to set Hsiao Ho up with men, as he thought he was gay.
For the most part, he has put out some fine performances as one of the most, frequently seen character actors, in the business. Hit him and he will crumble, but, usually, you'll have to catch him first. He played a sifu (teacher) in the Shaw classic The 5 Super Fighters, as he taught Wu Yuan-Chun the finer points of the Crane-style. Usually, most of his performances are laced with Comedy, though (normally) not to the point of the ridiculous (as is, often, the case with Dean Shek). As an actor, he was initially introduced to films, by Chang Cheh, who cast him in the films he shot, under his Chang's Films banner (back in '73). He's done exception work, under various director at Shaw Brothers and stay with the studio, until it closed in the mid 1980's.
