Much of his earlier work was in Japanese televison, before going into films. The last name should have given him away; he's Sonny Chiba's, little brother, who has skills of his own, but nowhere near those of his more famous brother. But, it doesn't matter, because he can hold his own when it comes to fighting, Another charter member of the J.A.C. (Japanese Action Club), he has starred in a few of his brothers more popular vehicles on the screen.
His best performance, probably came when he fought against Milton Ishibashi in Dragon Princess, where he tried to save his wife and child, by shielding them from killers, in an alley way. Or as the young punk who does a "Flying Sidekick" at Chiba in the The Street Fighter, only to fly out the window and unto the pavement below. In the obscure classic Tigers Claws (starring Yasuaki Kuarata), he fought with, then feed the Tiger (literally). All in all, he's done some quality work, just not enough to keep his face in the limelight next to his big brother
