"Black September"

Accidents hampered him a lot later in his life and for some unseen reasons, they mostly happened in the month of September. It later became known as "Fu Sheng's Black September". They had a lasting affect on him as a result and changed many things around him as well. After not being able to star in Seasonal Film's Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, he starred in Avenging Eagles and it became one of his best-known films. Ironically, his accidents have actually helped the careers of others.

Enter the Venoms

In his first accident, he got hurt when he fell 8 feet (head first) into a water jug on the set of Deadly Breaking Sword. This stopped the film and caused a chain-reaction when production on Chang Cheh's 10 Tigers from Kwangtung was also halted. It wouldn't be finished for (2) years and he would have only a "Guest Starring" role in the completed film.

Being the director's top draw at this time, Chang was put in a tough position; as he still had to meet production deadlines for the films he was responsible for. He and I Kuang reworked the script Web of Death (about the "5 Poisons") and came up with the 5 Venoms. Chang knew he had capable actors in a lot of his Taiwanese crew, so he gave them a chance to star in their own vehicle. After the film was a smash, he started writing more scripts for them and his newest group was born.

That's what friends are for

A leg injury on set of Heroes Shed No Tears only did it hamper this film, but also Chang's production (he would release (2) films he had already shot with him earlier). The film The Kung Fu Instructor and Claw of The Eagle would go to his friend Wong Yu, who also had Fu Sheng's boyish-type qualities that made him very likable. They were close friends and whenever Fu Sheng wasn't able to do a film, the part always seemed to wind up in Wong's hands.

The original title Kid with a Tattoo was still ironic as the "tattoo" in question was of an eagle. Ever since he lost out on the part in Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, this was the animal that somehow always had an affect on his life. These films (along with Mark of the Eagle), were vehicles written specifically for him and Ti Lung.

Return of the Eagle

After his guest appearance in 10 Tigers from Kwangtung, he was gaining his confidence back (thanks to the Liu Camp) and he would re-invent himself as an actor, choosing Comedy as his weapon of choice. He had gained weight and didn't appear with his shirt off in a lot his future films. The Treasure Hunters introduced us to his younger brother, who was often said to be a much better martial-artist.

His re-invention of himself paid off, as he (and his brother) won Golden Horses (Oscars) for their performances, which was a first time (2) siblings won for the same film. This was his "comeback" film and in spite of the accidents that had plagued him in the past, he had a new lease on life and was embarking on a new career as a comedic actor.
