This little powerhouse is an excellent acrobat is in a league that consists of other short guys who were big on talent -
Meng Yuen-Men,
Meng Hoi just to name a few, who are also excellent film-makers (Tung) and choreographers (Hoi). He directed the highly acclaimed Chinese Ghost Story series and worked as choreographer on the excellent Peking Opera Blues. His technical skills were probably inherited from his famous father - Shaw director
Cheng Kang, who was responsible for such excellent films like The 14 Amazons, Kidnap, and 12 Gold Medallions.
He was a face-to-watch in the 70's playing half of the Monkey duo in the classic Stroke of Death along side Monkey-stylist
Hau Sau-Seng and then again playing a trickster with the conman-of-sorts Meng Yuen Men. His work on Duel to the Death helped it to become an instant classic among kung-fu fans as well as his choreograhy skills on the movie The Sword with
Adam Cheng. In the 90's he's still a major force in the movie industry in Hong Kong still directing and adding his own brand of choreography to films. If they are anything like his films Swordsman 1 & 2 he won't be out of work any time soon.
My Favorite Films:
- Stroke of Death
- The Sword
- The Master Strikes
- Peking Opera Blues
- Swordsman 2
- The Executioners
