Noted for working with
Jackie Chan during his
Lo Wei phase. Jackie's films actually looked better under him than with direct Lo. With him, Jackie seemed to have the freedom to express himself and martial-arts abilities (as a choreographer) in films like Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin and Shaolin Wooden Men.
Some of his other films stood out from the pack like - 36 Crazy Fists, Dance of Death, and Imperial Sword, both starring
Angela Mao. Though the majority of his later films didn't quite match up to his best work with Chan, he, like many directors of his time, found less work as bigger studios (and stars) held a strangle-hold on the business. His career path would change to fantasy-type films, though he never forgot his kung-fu audience as he worked on Young Taoism Fighter with the
Yuen Clan.
My Favorite Films:
- Ape Girl
- 36 Crazy Fist
- Dance of Death
- Imperial Sword
- Shaolin Wooden Men
- Snake and Crane Secrets of Shaolin
